"I will kill you if you touch my son," he snarls even as his head is being pushed to the side. It's more or less an empty threat, given how strong Kronid has shown himself to be, but it's out before he can quite realize how ridiculous he sounds.
He's panting, straining against Kronid's grip, baring his teeth in a growl as Kronid pushes his hair out of his way to bare his neck.
Another cruel laugh tumbles from the vampire's lips at that comment. "That would be very impressive if you could, Georg. Many have tried. No one has succeeded, clearly. I could get off of you, let you go, let you RUN and HIDE, and you'd be dead in moments anyway. I can hear eeeeeverything."
Bending down, he runs his tongue in a long swipe up Georg's neck. Teasing him, even rutting their hips together a couple more times.
He's twisting the proverbial knife, he knows, but he's gotta have his fun somewhere.
The gentle hand that had been brushing hair from Georg's neck suddenly grips his jaw, driving his head down and to one side. Kronid stoops down, whispering right into his ear -
"I'm never satiated, Georg. It never ends. But you'll do for now.
Sie bereit."
With a flash of fangs and an animal hiss, he plunges his fangs into the man's neck, moaning with relief as blood washes over his tongue. He starts to drink with no sign of stopping, an animal finally getting to feed.
He doesn't scream. For the sake of his family, he doesn't scream. He grits his teeth against a pained noise, exhaling in a hiss. The world starts to swim in front of his eyes, going grey around the edges.
Distantly, he hears the door open. "Papa?" he hears, and shuts his eyes tightly against tears. Not Herbert. Please, not Herbert.
"Papa, I heard the thunder again, and -- Papa?"
"Herbert -- " he manages to get out. "Herbert, run."
For a moment, Kronid is lost in it - he had been subsisting on animal blood for a couple of weeks now, and with his power, at his age...oh, he was just unbearably thirsty. Greed, gutteral noises come from him as his body shudders over Georg's -
And then he hears that he has company.
Pulling back, face smeared all over with blood, he grins at the child, paying no mind to the dying man underneath him.
"Hello, Herbert," he purrs, voice sickeningly sweet. "Your Papa is right. You'd better run. In fact...how are you at Hide and Seek?" He climbs off of the bed, walking slowly towards the little one, covered in his father's blood.
"Because I'd love to play with you. And if you don't play...I'm going to eat your Mama, too.
Herbert is frightened. Terrified. His Papa is lying on the bed, bleeding. And this man with his face covered in blood is telling him to play hide and seek. He doesn't want to, not with this man.
But the man says if he doesn't, he'll eat Mama, too. And so, Herbert bares his teeth in a snarl at the man before running off to try and find a safe spot to hide.
Twisting where he stands, he looks to Georg, lazily wiping his lips with the back of his hand and licking it clean. "He's just a little one," he chuckles, moving to stand over his prey. "So I'll give him a healthy head start. And you...you don't have long left, anyhow. Not a thing you could do to stop me."
Strolling to the side of the bed, he leans down, licking at the wound on Georg's throat before resting his chin on his hand. Casual. Playful, even.
"You just stay right here. I'll come finish you off after I finish playing with your little boy. After all...you said it yourself. That he would just adore my little trick."
Kissing his victim on the forehead, he turns, moving towards the door, rolling his tongue in a steady click.
That noise. He can hear it echoing from down the hallway, where he's hidden behind a clock. It's wide enough for him to fit behind, and he hopes that the ticking of the clock can coverup the sound of his heart, how hard he's breathing.
Why would a friend of Papa's do something so cruel? He doesn't understand, only knows that he wants to go to his Papa and he can't. Not if he wants to keep his Mama safe, too.
Kronid isn't being loud - but his voice still seems to carry, echoing, whispering like his lips are inches from the boy's ear. He doesn't run, the sound of his boots adding a downbeat to the rhythmic click click clicking of his tongue against his teeth and palette.
He hasn't found Herbert yet - but truth be told, he's not trying very hard. Sure, he could just drain the child. Hell, he could kill everyone here, easily, and take over the castle. But it just isn't his style, really...and besides, there is a part of him, long distant, that just -
Well, kids aren't worth it.
Tch tch tch. Tch tch tch. The clink of his coins, the tap of his boots.
Herbert covers both hands with his mouth, doing his best to stay quiet. Silent. He must be absolutely silent to win the game. Win the game and live. And hopefully save Mama, too.
He can't get the image of the man's blood soaked mouth out of his head, and he feels tears sliding down his face, over his hands where the cover his mouth.
Herbert sucks in a breath as the clock is pushed closer to the wall. Wishing he could be smaller, somehow. He doesn't want Mama hurt. He has to stay still, stay quiet. He has to win. Maybe the stranger will move on, look elsewhere.
Sharp ears can hear that terrified breath, even over the roll of thunder - his face splits in a wicked grin as he reaches out, placing his nails against the glass front of the clock and driving them forcefully downward. The resulting screeching sound is terrible.
He laughs at it.
"Isn't this fun?" Still singsong, a cat playing with a mouse just to be cruel.
"I know you're back there...how fast are you, I wonder, if you run?"
The nails against the glass make him yelp and cringe back against the wall.
"Do you want me to run, now? I'll run, fast as I can." For Mama, he'll run as fast and far as his feet will take him. All the way through the woods, if he has to.
A long moment of silence settles, the rain overhead the only sounds in the hall. It isn't clear, at first, whether or not he is even going to respond.
Then there is another bolt of lightning, casting his shadow, tall and cruel against the wall.
Followed by a roar of thunder...and the sudden wrenching of the clock away from the wall with impossible strength. It falls to one side, and there Kronid stands, still covered in Georg's blood, grey eyes flashing.
"I found you. Run," he snarls, the singsong gone in favor of a horrible, bestial growl.
Hebert shrieks at the sight of this -- this beast. This wolf that's invaded his home. Sharp claws and too many teeth and that snarl -- oh what a horrible thing it is.
And so he runs. Runs through the hallways and down the stairs, not daring to look behind him as he does.
The grin he had been wearing disappears at the shriek - it echoes down the hall, shrill and telltale, unmasked by the storm. He had hoped to keep this simple, but...well. It's excitement, anyhow, isn't it?
It would be very easy to catch up with Herbert right away, with his speed - and if the boy does look back when he gets to the bottom of the stairs, he will see the creature is right behind him, moving as though this mad dash is a pleasant jog.
Before he can jump down those stairs, however, a servant pops out of a nearby door...and in a flash, the vampire is upon him, clamping a hand over his mouth before burying his teeth in his throat. The man can't even scream as his blood dribbles messily over the bannister, down to the floor below.

Right in front of the clock.
"Where, oh where could you be? You know...I could make you come out, if I wanted. But that would be cheating, wouldn't it?"
Turning towards the clock, he sets his toe against the base.
And he scoots it, just half an inch, towards the wall.
