Hey Alfred, I got some news for you: I can finally go out in the sunlight without it feeling like hell ;) I was wondering if you wanted to go out and enjoy this nice weather to celebrate. We deserve a nice soak in the sun if you ask me!
[When Alfred arrives he'll find Phil already at a table, nursing a drink. When he sees Alfred he smiles and lifts up another cup on the table. He might have already went ahead and bought Alfred a drink.]
[And sure enough, timely as ever, Alfred swoops in from the skies, coming to a tidy landing a few feet away. Grinning, he approaches with a wave, sweeping a hand up between his horns to smooth his hair down.]
Hallo! I hope you haven't been waiting for too long.
[Before he sits, he leans over the table to steal a kiss - confident, sweet, casual. It's remarkable how far they've come, isn't it?]
[And without making fun of the intense sugar bomb that is the way Alfred likes his coffee! They really have come a long way.
Alfred sits across from his boyfriend with a dopey grin, softly grasping back at Phil's hand with his own radiantly warm fingers.]
I have been fine. It - didn't really affect me, I think. I am a terrible liar to begin with, so...being made to tell the truth did almost nothing. And I didn't feel anything about going to the lake.
[A little frown tugs at his lips. Those poor people.]
What about you? I hope you didn't have a hard time?
Nah, you know me. I've never been good at not blabbing about my own secrets.
[Although at that, he frowns slightly, looking away.]
Although... there is something I should probably tell you that happened recently. I'm fine, but since we're dating I should be transparent about this shit.
Nervously, his tail lashes behind him under the table, restlessly thumping and twitching on the concrete before snaking around the legs of his chair. For a moment, he thinks about what it would be like if that ever happened to him. If he ever went back.
He can barely suppress the shudder.
His other hand rests over the top of Phil's, holding it firmly.]
Of course it matters to me. And I would never think you don't care. You've cared since the beginning.
But - are you really all right? That - that's no small thing, going back to...to all of that.
Thank you, it... it really means a lot to me that you say that.
[He smiles softly, reassuring.]
I'm fine, I promise. At the end Rita... was worried about me, she saw the pain I was going through and she helped feel happy again. It kind of gave me a new perspective on things.
[His grin turns sheepish.]
I think I have a crush on her now but I'd rather focus on the relationships I do have now. Not like she remembers the day we had together anyway.
[There's a little bit of wariness in his expression as he listens - like he's really, truly appraising how Phil is actually doing - but before long the tension mostly passes. He trusts the Goblin, after all, to be truthful with him about important things. That's why he's being told this in the first place.]
Well...I am glad you're all right. It sounds like there was a lot of good in it for you. And she sounds wonderful.
But even if I did not know you were gone, I am very glad to have you back.
